基數與序數
英文的數字分成計算數量的基數和表示順序的序數兩種。基數用在計算名詞的數量，序數用在表示名次、日期、樓層，而序數前面通常會加 the。

A. 基數 — 計算數量的數字
基數是表示個數、年齡、電話號碼等數量時使用的數字，放在名詞前面。1~12 各有不同的名稱，13~19 用 -teen，20、30、40 等則用 -ty 這個字尾。

B. 序數 — 表示順序的數字
序數用在表示順序、名次、日期、樓層，大多是在基數後面加 -th，但是 1st(first), 2nd(second), 3rd(third) 有特別的形態。請記住序數前面通常會加 the 這一點。

C. 日期、電話號碼、年齡的讀法
日期用序數讀，年齡和電話號碼用基數讀，大的數字則習慣按照位數分開來讀比較自然。電話號碼裡的 0 通常讀成「oh」或是「zero」。

重點整理
- 1基數用在表示個數、年齡、電話號碼，序數用在表示順序、日期、樓層，這就是這兩種數字的根本差異。
- 2序數前面通常要加 the，這條規則是使用序數的基本原則。(例: the first day, the third floor)
- 3大部分的序數是基數 + -th 的形態，但是 1st(first) / 2nd(second) / 3rd(third) 是特別的形態，所以必須整組背下來。
- 4像 five → fifth, nine → ninth, twelve → twelfth 這樣拼字會稍微改變的序數也有，請多加注意。
- 5電話號碼要一個數字一個數字讀，0 讀成「oh」或「zero」，這個習慣在實際會話中很常用到。
