A. Bildung des Superlativs — -est / most
An kurze Wörter mit 1~2 Silben hängt man -est, vor lange Wörter mit drei oder mehr Silben setzt man most, und davor steht zwingend the. Die Formel ist the + Superlativ + of/in, und die Schreibregeln (-e/-y/Konsonant verdoppeln) sind dieselben wie beim Komparativ.
| Positiv | Superlativ | Regel |
|---|---|---|
| tall | the tallest | Grundfall -est |
| nice | the nicest | Endung -e → -st |
| happy | the happiest | Konsonant+y → i + est |
| big | the biggest | kurzer Vokal + einfacher Konsonant → verdoppeln |
| useful | the most useful | drei Silben oder mehr → most |
| beautiful | the most beautiful | drei Silben oder mehr → most |
- Kevin is the tallest boy in his class.
- This is the funniest movie I've ever seen.
- July is usually the hottest month here.
- That was the most interesting lecture of the semester. (Das war die interessanteste Vorlesung des Semesters.)
B. Unregelmäßig — good / bad / much / little
| Positiv | Komparativ | Superlativ |
|---|---|---|
| good / well | better | the best |
| bad / badly | worse | the worst |
| much / many | more | the most |
| little | less | the least |
| far | farther / further | the farthest / furthest |
- This is the best coffee in town.
- That was the worst day of the year. (Das war der schlimmste Tag des Jahres.)
- She spends the most money on books.
- This route takes the least time. (Dieser Weg braucht am wenigsten Zeit.)
C. the + Superlativ + of / in — Bereich angeben
| Form | Beispiel | Bedeutung |
|---|---|---|
| of + Plural | She is the youngest of the three. | die Jüngste von den drei |
| in + Ort | He is the tallest in the class. | der Größte in der Klasse |
| Betonung mit ever | This is the best book I've ever read. | das Beste, was ich je gelesen habe |
| one of the + Superlativ + Plural | It's one of the largest cities in Asia. | eine der größten Städte Asiens |
- Anna is the smartest of all my classmates.
- This is the tallest building in our city.
- That was the worst mistake I've ever made.
- Seoul is one of the busiest cities in the world.
Kernpunkte
- 1Vor dem Superlativ steht zwingend the, und gebildet wird er bei kurzen Wörtern mit -est, bei langen mit most. (z. B.: the tallest, the most useful)
(z. B.: of the three, in the class)
- 3good→best, bad→worst, much/many→most, little→least sind unregelmäßige Superlative, die man als Ganzes lernen muss.
- 4Ein häufiger Fehler ist es, the wegzulassen oder -est und most doppelt zu setzen. (z. B.: the tallest — most tallest ist falsch)
- 5Zur Betonung einer Erfahrung wird die Form the + Superlativ + Substantiv + I've ever + Partizip Perfekt häufig als feste Wendung verwendet. (z. B.: the best movie I've ever seen)
- 6one of the + Superlativ + Substantiv im Plural bedeutet „eines der ~sten“, und das folgende Substantiv muss zwingend im Plural stehen. (z. B.: one of the busiest cities)
