A. 否定句 — There wasn't / There weren't
否定句是在 was / were 正後面加上 not，在會話中則是縮寫的 wasn't / weren't 常用得多。在否定句裡，後面的名詞和 any 一起用會比較自然。

B. 疑問句 — Was there / Were there
疑問句唯一的規則就是把 was 或 were 移到 there 前面，而且回答的時候也一定要再放一次 there。請把Was there + 單數 / Were there + 複數 + ? 這個語序當成一組學起來。

- Were there any changes in the plan? — No, there weren't. (那個計畫有什麼變更嗎？沒有，沒有變更。)
C. How many / How much — 詢問過去的數量
要詢問過去的數目與分量時，用的是 How many + 複數 + were there ~? / How much + 不可數名詞 + was there ~? 這個形態。這個句型在回顧過去的情況時非常常用。
