不定代名詞 (one / ones / it)
one と ones は前に述べられたものと「同じ種類の別のもの」を指し、it は前に述べられた「まさにそれ」一つを正確に指し直します。対象が特定のものかどうかが両者の決定的な違いです。

A. one — 同じ種類のうちの一つ (単数)
one は前に述べた名詞と同じ種類に属する数えられるものを一つ指す不定代名詞で、同じ名詞を繰り返さないための代わりの表現です。one = a/an + 同じ種類の名詞 という感覚で理解すると簡単です。

B. ones — 同じ種類のうちの複数 (複数形)
ones は one の複数形で数えられるものを複数指し、必ず形容詞や this/these などの修飾語と一緒に現れます。単独で They are ones. のようには使わず、どのようなものかを示す表現が前後に付きます。

- Don't buy the cheap ones. (安いのは買わないでください。)
C. it — すでに述べられたまさにそれ
it は前に述べた、まさにその特定のもの一つを再び指す指示代名詞で、「同じ種類の別のもの」を意味する one とは役割が完全に異なります。前に話したものをはっきり特定してもう一度話すときに it を使います。

重要ポイント
- 1one は「同じ種類のうちのどれでも一つ」、it は「前に述べたまさにそれ」で、対象が特定のものかどうかが両者の決定的な違いです。(例: I need a pen. I need one. / I lost my pen. I can't find it.)
- 2ones は必ず形容詞・this/these/that/those・the などの修飾語と一緒に現れ、単独では使いません。(例: the red ones, these ones)
- 3one と ones は数えられる名詞にのみ使い、数えられない名詞(water, money, advice)には使いません。(例: I need some advice. — I need one advice. は誤り)
- 4会話で「どれがほしいですか?」と聞かれたら The blue one. / The red ones. のように形容詞 + one/ones で短く答えます。
- 5it の複数は they/them で、ones ではありません。(例: I bought these shoes. I love them.)
