A. Yapı: If + had + p.p., would/could/might + have + p.p.
Bu yapıda if tümcesinde had + geçmiş zaman ortacı (tamamlanmış geçmiş zaman), temel tümcede would/could/might + have + geçmiş zaman ortacı eşleşir. If + had + ortaç, would have + ortaç kalıbını olduğu gibi öğrenin.

- 1Geçmiş öncesi varsayım çoktan geçmiş bir gerçeği ters çevirerek hayal ettiği için ardında mutlaka 'gerçekte öyle yapılmadı' örtük anlamı bulunur; özü budur. (Örnek: If I had studied, ... → gerçekte çalışmadı)
- 2if tümcesinde had + geçmiş zaman ortacı, temel tümcede would/could/might + have + geçmiş zaman ortacı eşleşir; biçimin özü bu çift katmanlı kuruluştur. (Örnek: If I had known, I would have called.)
