Spiegazione
A. Predicativo nominale — call, name, elect, appoint
| Verbo | Senso | Esempio |
|---|---|---|
| call | chiamare qualcuno ... | They call him Ken. |
| name | dare a qualcuno il nome di ... | She named her cat Luna. |
| elect | eleggere qualcuno ... | They elected her mayor. |
| make | fare di qualcuno un ... | The board made him CEO. |
| appoint | nominare qualcuno ... | They appointed her director. |
- My friends call me Andy. (I miei amici mi chiamano Andy.)
- We named our son Lucas. (Abbiamo chiamato Lucas nostro figlio.)
- The party elected him leader. (Il partito lo ha eletto leader.)
- They consider Anna a genius. (Considerano Anna un genio.)
B. Predicativo aggettivale — keep, make, find, leave
| Verbo | Senso | Esempio |
|---|---|---|
| keep | mantenere qualcosa in un certo stato | Keep the room clean. |
| make | rendere qualcuno in un certo modo | Music makes me calm. |
| find | trovare qualcosa in un certo modo | I found the book interesting. |
| leave | lasciare qualcosa in un certo stato | Don't leave the door open. |
| consider | considerare qualcuno in un certo modo | They consider him reliable. |
- The coffee kept me awake all night.
- The exam made her nervous. (L'esame l'ha resa nervosa.)
- We found the hotel comfortable. (Abbiamo trovato comodo l'albergo.)
- Please leave me alone for a while.
| Confronto | Predicativo nominale | Predicativo aggettivale |
|---|---|---|
| make | make him president (a presidente) | make him happy (felice) |
| consider | consider her a friend (un'amica) | consider her kind (gentile) |
| find | find him a good teacher (un bravo insegnante) | find him interesting (interessante) |
- They made him captain of the team. (Lo hanno fatto capitano della squadra.)
- The gift made her happy. (Il regalo l'ha resa felice.)
- I consider him my best friend. (Lo considero il mio migliore amico.)
- I consider him trustworthy. (Lo considero affidabile.)
Punti chiave
(es.: They elected him president. → him = president)
(es.: made me happy.)
(es.: make him president / make him happy)
(es.: They elected her mayor.)
