A.  Biçim — sıfat·zarf + enough + to V 

enough bir sıfatı ya da zarfı nitelerken mutlaka onun ardından gelir, sonra da to'lu mastar eklenir. Sırayı sıfat·zarf + enough + to V biçiminde olduğu gibi belleğinize alın.

B.  so ~ that yapısına çevirmek 

enough to yapısı anlamı korunarak so + sıfat·zarf + that + özne + can yan tümcesine çevrilebilir.

  • He is rich enough to buy a house. (Ev alacak kadar varlıklı.)
  • She spoke loudly enough to be heard. (Duyulacak kadar yüksek sesle konuştu.)
  • The problem is simple enough to solve. (O sorun çözülecek kadar yalın.)

 

C.  Olumsuz anlatım — not + sıfat·zarf + enough + to 

'…ecek kadar yeterince ~ değil' olumsuzluğunda not, be fiilinin ya da yardımcı fiilin yanına gelir; ardındaki sıra olduğu gibi korunur. Anlamı yakın olan too ~ to yapısının odağı 'aşırılık'ta, not enough to yapısının odağı ise 'yetersizlik'tedir.

  • He is not experienced enough to lead the team. (Takımı yönetecek kadar deneyimli değil.)

Önemli noktalar

  1. 1enough bir sıfatı ya da zarfı nitelerken mutlaka onun ardından gelir ve arkasına to'lu mastar eklenir; bu sıra kesindir. (Örnek: tall enough to reach it.)
  2. 2enough to yapısı so + sıfat + that + özne + can yan tümcesine çevrilse de anlam aynı kalır. (Örnek: old enough to drive = so old that he can drive.)
  3. 3Anlamsal özne gerekiyorsa sıfat + enough + for + nesne durumu + to V sırasıyla araya konur. (Örnek: The book is easy enough for children to read.)
  4. 4not + sıfat·zarf + enough + to yetersizliği, too ~ to ise aşırılığı öne çıkarır. (Örnek: not old enough / too young.)
  5. 5enough bir adı nitelerken adın önüne gelir, ama sıfatı ya da zarfı nitelerken mutlaka arkasına gelir. (Örnek: enough money / old enough)
