A. Tag com verbo modal — can·will·should·must ...
|---|---|---|
| afirmativa + can | can't + pronome | You can drive, can't you? |
| negativa + can | can + pronome | He can't swim, can he? |
| afirmativa + will | won't + pronome | She will come, won't she? |
| negativa + will | will + pronome | They won't mind, will they? |
| afirmativa + should | shouldn't + pronome | We should leave, shouldn't we? |
- You can speak French, can't you? (Você fala francês, não fala?)
- He won't be angry, will he? (Ele não vai ficar bravo, vai?)
- Anna should apologize, shouldn't she? (A Anna deveria se desculpar, não deveria?)
- We must hurry, mustn't we? (Temos que nos apressar, não temos?)
B. Tag no imperativo — ~, will you? / won't you?
|---|---|---|---|
| imperativo afirmativo | will you? | pedido·confirmação | Close the door, will you? |
| imperativo afirmativo | won't you? | convite cortês | Have some tea, won't you? |
| imperativo negativo | will you? | proibição suave | Don't be late, will you? |
| imperativo afirmativo | would you? | pedido cortês | Pass me the salt, would you? |
- Turn off the light, will you? (Apaga a luz, sim?)
- Help me carry this box, will you? (Me ajuda a carregar esta caixa, sim?)
- Have a seat, won't you? (Sente-se, não quer?)
- Don't forget your keys, will you?
Let's ~, shall we?
|---|---|---|
| Let's + forma base | shall we? | Let's take a break, shall we? |
| Let's not + forma base | shall we? | Let's not argue, shall we? |
| Let's have ... | shall we? | Let's have dinner now, shall we? |
| Let's go ... | shall we? | Let's go home, shall we? |
- Let's watch a movie tonight, shall we?
- Let's meet at seven, shall we? (Vamos nos encontrar às sete, que tal?)
- Let's not wait any longer, shall we? (Vamos não esperar mais, tudo bem?)
- Let's order some pizza, shall we? (Vamos pedir uma pizza, que tal?)
Pontos principais
(Ex.: You can, can't you? / She won't, will she?)
- 2Depois de um imperativo, afirmativo ou negativo, acrescentar will you? dá um tom suave de pedido·confirmação. (Ex.: Close the door, will you?)
- 3A tag da sugestão com Let's é sempre shall we?, e continua shall we? mesmo depois de Let's not. (Ex.: Let's not wait, shall we?)
- 4Acrescentar won't you? a um imperativo afirmativo soa bem mais cortês e caloroso do que will you?. (Ex.: Have some tea, won't you?)
- 5O sujeito dentro da tag é obrigatoriamente um pronome (he, she, we, they etc.); não se repete o nome nem o substantivo. (Ex.: Anna should go, shouldn't she?)
