비교급을 활용한 심화 구문에는 the + 비교급 the + 비교급, 비교급 + and + 비교급, no more ~ than / not so much A as B 같은 관용 표현이 있습니다.

A.  the + 비교급 ~, the + 비교급 — ~할수록 더 …

C.  심화 관용 표현 — no more ~ than / not so much A as B / know better than to

세 표현은 문자 그대로가 아닌 관용적 뉘앙스를 갖는 심화 비교 구문입니다. no more A than B는 'B가 아니듯 A도 아니다'라는 강한 부정, not so much A as B는 'A라기보다는 B다'라는 재정의, know better than to V는 '~할 만큼 어리석지 않다'라는 판단 표현입니다.

no more A than BB가 아닌 것처럼 A도 아니다He is no more a genius than I am.
not so much A as BA라기보다는 오히려 BShe is not so much strict as fair.
know better than to V~할 만큼 어리석지는 않다You should know better than to trust him.

(예: The more you practice, the better you get.)
  2. 2비교급 + and + 비교급은 '점점 더 ~해지다'라는 진행 변화를 나타내며, more형은 more and more + 형용사로 씁니다. (예: more and more expensive)
  3. 3no more A than B는 강한 부정, not so much A as B는 재정의(A보다는 B)의 뉘앙스로 각각 쓰입니다. (예: no more a fish than, not so much strict as fair)
(예: I know better than to lie.)
