Comparación - reforzar el comparativo (much, even, still, far, a lot)

A.  Intensificadores — much, far, a lot, still, even, way

Si pones much / far / a lot / still / even / way delante del comparativo, el sentido de «mucho más ~» se refuerza. Aprende como un bloque much / far / a lot / still / even + comparativo. way se usa a menudo en la lengua hablada para expresar «muchísimo».

IntensificadorMatizEjemplo
even«aún más, incluso más»even faster
way«un montón», muy coloquialway easier
  • This route is much shorter than the other one.
  • Her second album is far more popular than her first.
  • The exam was a lot easier than I expected.
  • This app is way more useful than that one.

B.  very no intensifica el comparativo

Forma baseComparativo
very tall (O)much taller (O) / very taller (X)
very expensive (O)much more expensive (O) / very more expensive (X)
very good (O)much better (O) / very better (X)
very quickly (O)much more quickly (O) / very more quickly (X)
  • This car is very fast. → This car is much faster than that one.
  • Anna is very kind. → Anna is far kinder than her brother.
  • Today is very cold. → Today is a lot colder than yesterday. (Hoy hace mucho más frío que ayer.)

C.  even / still + comparativo — «aún más / todavía más»

AdverbioMatizEjemplo
evenaún más ~even more difficult
stilly aun así todavía más ~still harder
  • The first movie was great, but the sequel is even better.

Ideas clave

  1. 1Para reforzar el comparativo se usan much / far / a lot / still / even / way, y nunca very. (Ej.: much taller, X: very taller)
(Ej.: very tall (O) / very taller (X))
(Ej.: even better, still worse)
  4. 4En la conversación se usan mucho a lot y way, y way tiene un tono muy coloquial. (Ej.: This is way easier.)
  5. 5Delante de los comparativos formados con more (more expensive, more difficult) también se colocan tal cual much / far / even / still. (Ej.: much more expensive)
