話法 — 疑問文の話法転換
直接話法の疑問文を間接話法に変えるときは、伝達動詞を ask・wonder・inquire などに変え、疑問詞があればその疑問詞を、なければ if や whether を接続詞にして「主語 + 動詞」の平叙文の語順を続けます。時制・人称・時間の副詞の調整ルールは平叙文と同じです。
概念の説明
直接話法の疑問文を間接話法に変えるときは、伝達動詞を ask・wonder・inquire などに変え、疑問詞があればその疑問詞を、なければ if や whether を接続詞にして「主語 + 動詞」の平叙文の語順を続けます。時制・人称・時間の副詞の調整ルールは平叙文と同じです。
A. 疑問詞がある場合 — 疑問詞 + 主語 + 動詞
who, what, where, when, why, how のような疑問詞がある疑問文は、その疑問詞を接続詞にして、あとの語順を「主語 + 動詞」に変えます。疑問詞あり → 疑問詞 + S + V。直接話法の do/does/did は消え、時制だけが動詞に反映されます。

- He asked, "Where is the station?" → He asked where the station was. (彼は駅がどこか尋ねました。)
- She asked, "Who called you?" → She asked who had called me. (彼女は誰が私に電話したか尋ねました。)
- Tom asked, "What do you want?" → Tom asked what I wanted. (トムは私が何を欲しいか尋ねました。)
- Anna asked, "How are you feeling?" → Anna asked how I was feeling. (アンナは私がどう感じているか尋ねました。)
B. 疑問詞がない場合 — if / whether + 主語 + 動詞
Yes/No で答える疑問文は疑問詞がないので、接続詞 if や whether を入れて、あとの語順を「主語 + 動詞」に変えます。疑問詞なし → if / whether + S + V。if と whether はほとんど置き換えができ、格式・選択の列挙には whether のほうが自然です。

- He asked, "Are you a student?" → He asked if I was a student. (彼は私が学生か尋ねました。)
- She asked, "Do you like this song?" → She asked whether I liked that song. (彼女は私がその歌が好きか尋ねました。)
- Tom asked, "Have you finished?" → Tom asked if I had finished. (トムは私が終えたか尋ねました。)
- Anna asked, "Will you come tomorrow?" → Anna asked whether I would come the next day. (アンナは私が翌日に来るか尋ねました。)
C. 時制・人称・副詞の調整 — 平叙文と同じ
疑問文の話法転換でも伝達動詞が過去のときは、引用文の時制を一段階うしろに移し、人称・時間・場所の副詞を同じルールで変えます。

- He asked, "Where are you now?" → He asked where I was then. (彼は私がそのときどこにいるか尋ねました。)
- She asked, "Did you see him yesterday?" → She asked if I had seen him the day before. (彼女は私が前日に彼を見たか尋ねました。)
- Tom asked, "Will you help me tomorrow?" → Tom asked whether I would help him the next day. (トムは私が翌日に彼を手伝うか尋ねました。)
- Anna asked, "Do you like this place?" → Anna asked if I liked that place. (アンナは私がその場所が好きか尋ねました。)
重要ポイント
- 1疑問詞のある疑問文はその疑問詞を接続詞にして語順を「主語 + 動詞」に変えます。(例: "Where do you live?" → He asked where I lived.)
- 2疑問詞のない Yes/No 疑問文は if または whether を接続詞に入れます。格式・選択の列挙には whether のほうが自然です。(例: He asked if / whether I was ready.)
- 3直接話法の do/does/did は間接話法で消え、時制だけが本動詞に反映されます。(X: She asked if I do like it → O: She asked if I liked it.)
- 4伝達動詞は asked, wondered, inquired などを使うのが自然で、ask のあとには目的語(me, him)を入れることができます。(例: He asked me if I was okay.)
- 5間接疑問文では常に平叙文の語順(主語 + 動詞)を維持します。(X: He asked where did I live → O: He asked where I lived.)
